Made of the same combination of yamazaki malt hakashu malt and chita grain as hibiki 12 the hibiki harmony is a no age statement nas presumably younger version of the famous blend and was pushed out to the market as stores of older whisky dwindled. The hakushu blend which is exceptionally sweet and has notes of pine and earthy flavors not found in other peated whiskys like ardbeg or laphraoig is overwhelmed by the acidity and acridness of the yamazaki malt which tends to be more spicy.

Yamazaki and hakushu are both single malts hibiki is their blend and means harmony in japanese fitting for a blend. Suntory s hibiki japanese harmony is a new blended whisky. Japanese blended whisky of undisclosed mash bill of 10 different malt and grain whiskies aged in 5 different types of oak for an undisclosed amount of time and bottled at 43 abv in 750ml bottles for around 75 usd. It s made up of 10 malt and grain whiskies aged in five different types of casks including mizunara japanese oak from yamazaki hakushu and chita the latter presumably being the grain component.
